Attributes (custom fields)

Attributes are your own fields, such as Colour, Power or Serviced. Find them under Attributes in the menu.

What can have fields #

Tabs: Items, Locations, Suppliers, Tasks, Loans and Calendar entries. Item fields appear in the item details; the others in the Custom fields card on the item's page.

Field settings #

• Name and type: text, select list, number, date or yes/no
• Unit, for example W, cm or kg
• Options for a select list, or suggestions for free text. Giving an option a parent turns the options into a tree (e.g. Food › Dairy), and filtering by a parent also shows everything under it.
• Help text shown under the field when editing
• Always visible: the field is ready on every item
• In list: its own column in the item list

Change the order with the arrows; the same order is used in item details.

Changing the type #

Changing the type converts existing values. If a value doesn't fit the new type, nothing is changed. The name and type of system attributes (e.g. the alert level) can't be changed because Ohjuri uses them.
